Mamuka's Sapere is one of the rarest Imeretian grape varieties, historically grown in Terjola, in the Sazano area. Its history is connected to Mamuka, the brother of Imereti's last king Solomon II, who was involved in the Imeretian uprising (1819-1820) against the Russian Empire. Today, only Nanua winery produces Mamuka's Sapere in very limited quantities. Of the 110 bottles from the 2020 harvest, only two remain in Nanua's collection, one of which Mr. Gia Chubinidze will sell to support freedom fighters.
